Added bodies and blood to new roof area
Added spawn zone to prevent gameplay from being too easy for players on new roof area
Put vent covers to zombie spawning zones on floor and turned off collisions
Replaced fog controller with that from Dead Center
Altered nav mesh to include areas that weren't covered, removing the issue of the spitter goo mechanism to prevent "cheaters"
Increased height on a clip of a shelf in the Save4Less
Other minor adjustmens and additions

-Opened the door to whitaker's house so new players are aware of its existence
-Fixed minor nav issues for both Day and Night modes
-Replaced the fogcontroller with Dead Centre's fogcontroller for a more authentic look
-Fixed minor graphical issues
-Added more supplies at the Save4Less hold out
-Removed vent covers in whitaker's shop in both Day and Night modes
-Attempted to remove the issues with hanging on a ledge on top of Whitakers shop's roof
-Other small fixes and alterations

Finally added cubemaps, removing the issue with the default texture used as a reflective surface on everything. Now you see the world reflected, improving and adding to the atmosphere.

Fixed visual bugs with some of the buildings
Made changes to ensure that both day and night mode had consistency in looks and feel
Lowered the player clip and changes it to an all clip on the 2 big Air Conditioners on the extended roof of Whitaker's shop
Func_Detailed many objects in Night Mode, vvis compile now takes 17 seconds on full mode
Edited skybox to consume a larger area to reduce vvis
Uploaded updated vpk to Steam Workshop

Finally integrated 2 zombie spawners in the roofs of the shop and supermarket.
Optimised and filled in wasted space out of the playable area.

Previous Revision: Renamed addons to wgsr.vpk to support Mac users

Fixed up decals
Added more bodies to the roof, to make it look like a real hold out
Fixed up random lighting objects in day mode that were meant for night mode
Fixed up night mode, added a hint, fixed hint distances and visibility through objects
Added gas cans on the ground in front of the generator
Fixed up wires connected to generator
Fixed up lighting and lighting props all over night mode
Added a power cutoff for night mode, making it a little harder

Renamed addon to wgsr.vpk TO SUPPORT MAC USERS! WOOT!

Created the day/night modes
Night mode has many modifications to it - won't detail here
Created a Night mode poster
Added a lot of world details
Created a dead bodies scene at the front of the shop with high levels of decals and overlays
Added decals and overlays all over the map detailing trash and grime of abandonment lack of human interaction
Added a car in front of the shop
Fixed many lights
Added a clip in the first staircase to prevent certain collisions
Other few minor adjustments

Asserted many little bugs
Fixed 1 hour compile problem
Filled up wasted space behind, on top of and around buildings, file size is smaller and the compile time takes a lot less.
Added a game hint notifying players to "Summon a Rescue!" from the radio, this benefits new players
Fixed up Whitaker's room, removed gun cabinet, moved posters around, fixed up shadows.
Made Whitaker's house look more natural with paintings and other objects
Fixed displacement issue near Save4Less

Things to assert:

Plan to add audio effect to radio to make it seem realer.

Resolved the visual glitches

Removed objects and blocks from map that didn't affect the player or were never seen

The Japanese flag doesn't appear on the wall of Whitaker's Bedroom

A major addition has been made to this map, this is comprised by the addition of Whitaker's House to the map. go find it.

Minor changes have also been made:


Fixing of clips on the roof, such as the aircon clip, from clip to playerclip, where it cause the tank to be able to climb on top making it look like it was floating.

Nodraw textures have been placed on many blocks.

Added a mounted gun to the roof, which makes it look more like a last stand by Whitaker. I chose the mounted gun over the minigun as that would be unrealistic. Whitaker sounded old so it isn't too far fetched that he'd have an old mounted machine gun stashed away, right?

Shrunk nav mesh slightly.

Improved clip of the satellite dish

A few other changes...


Current Glitches:

None however there are cosmetic glitches that will be addressed in the next revision, but these do not affect game play and don't affect the experience of the map.

these include:

Issues with whitaker's Japanese flag
A nodrawed building looks like it is floating however it isn't
A ground texture was noclipped and leaves a hole but it is far away and won't affect the player.

Major changes to nave mesh and path finding.

Added more ladders for infected.

Made paths easier for user to use, easier to get around, get through doors, etc.

Changed nav-mesh to give distinct path to SI so as to not get stuck or halt in one location.

Used whitaker's hut as a method of access for the infected to get to the player.

Added more props to make a more natural effect.

Deleted redundant, useless or damaging nav meshes and ladders that effected user game play and infected path finding.

First waves is quicker and takes less time to reach player.

*** Changes to be addressed ***

Remove section of fence towards the highway bridge in front of whitaker's shop that SI stand at and allow themselves to get killed.

Fixed Whitakers Gun Shop's internal roof spawn

Added dead common infected to the extended roof area

Fixed minor nav-mesh issues

Fixed infected paths of nav-mesh

Shrunk play area size

Shrunk nav-mesh size to allow better flow and closer zombie spawns

Changed barrier in-front of gun shop (removed cargo container & van, changed to military fences)

Added natural looking chain-link barrier at roof top to prevent player from jumping out (cosmetic addition, doesn't do anything, just makes the invisible barrier make sense)

Added props and vehicles

Changed infected spawn locations

Removed hedges in carpark that was causing issues with Special Infected getting up ladders and bots walking into clip, getting stuck and not responding to surroundings, allowing infected to kill them.

Added additional ladder to the front of Whitaker''s Gun Shop to allow players to get back on to the roof rather than taking a longer route.

Fixed sky issues where the player would not see the sky or a skybox texture, but instead see a browny texture on the shape of a cylinder surrounding them, however some players may still experience this.

*** Things to be Addressed (Known Issues) ***

Bad spawn areas for common and SI

Path finding or inaccessibility for certain SI (boomer, jockey, tank)

Random spitter acid appearing (possibly due to a glitched spitter stuck in a building), unknown solution

Spawn locations or infected spawning too far away, or infected timing out and dieing from distance (e.g. boomer blows up, tank dies)

Major changes made to nav mesh, roof extensions and spawn points.

Most bugs/problems have been fixed but expect a few minor glitches, a few I know of which will be patched in the next release but it would be something like 2.5 not up to version 3.

What do i put in to play on cheat mode?

I put it in the addons folder double clicked it then hit yes to make changes to my computer then it said it faild to install what the hell did I do wrong

You don't double click to install, when you place it into the addons folder, the addon is automatically added to l4d2, within l4d2 you enable or disable it and then to play it go to survival mode.

So far I've survived almost 21 min... any actual rescue happening after like 30 or so, or just keep going for an endless attempt at a world record or something? ;) (what is the record for this anyway?)

Hey thanks for playing, 21 mins is pretty good, I think I've done that too.

The mode is survival and from my knowledge it isn't actually possible to win the mode without reprogramming the mode using the mutation or telling the players they won and then killing them to finish the round, so I can't help you there.

The world record could be anything, I've seen a few 14s and 19s so 21 is pretty good.

I'd appreciate it if you could rate and leave a review it helps get my map out to others.

Could you add the place where whitaker shoots the rocket launcher pls? Srr for my bad English :D

I would like to, however it does not have any attributes of importance. I've actually made it a ladder for the zombies to navigate, but it actually has absolutely nothing inside of it. Whitaker was in an empty box.

I don't think I will modify it, sorry, thanks for the suggestion though.

Oh then can you modify it? Whitaker body had died in there and the window is open to fire from inside.
If you don't want, just do nothing. I just suggest though. :D

Pros:

Every item in the game is present (and there's no melee line in the mission file, so it spawns all melees)
- Going along with the first one, actually puts the Heavy Machine Gun to use
- Lags a bit when first loading in, but otherwise is lag free (can't say the same for other popular survival maps)
- Lots of of variation in the areas to hold out
- It's great to have a day and night version
- Overall works excellent both as an easier survival map with bots (won't get quad capped in three minutes), and as a testing map for new addons
- Whitaker's room is amusing

Cons:

All of these are mostly minor, but I wasn't sure where else to put them :)
- The hanging vent cover in the gun room blocks you from walking under it, even though it looks like there's room
- Bots don't seem to take the weapons that you spawn in front of
- It's kinda hard to get down by means of the ladders in the front, would it be possible to make it so you can't hang off of the ledge, or add a staircase?
- I might be wrong on this, but it looks like there's more fog on this map than regular Dead Center. Seems excessive on the daytime version

Conclusion:

A great map overall. Perfect adaption of an existing/underused L4D2 environment. Like I said, also doubles as a "testing" map, just feels like a good test map all around. Could use better navigation and better bot knowledge.
