--==IMPORTANT NOTES, READ BEFORE DOWNLOADING==--

The campaign requires that you extract the Half-Life: 2 materials and models for use. THE CAMPAIGN WILL NOT WORK UNLESS YOU HAVE DONE THIS. I've even written you a nice little tutorial at http://lambda-l4d.webs.com/contentextractionguide.htm No, I can't include the files in the VPK because there are too many and VPKs have a size limit, over which they will break.

So... What's new in this version?

- A 9-map enhanced campaign from Half-Life 2, ranging from the City 17 station to the old canals system.
- 6 survival maps from the campaign (basically, the ones that have crescendo events)
- Soundscapes and music have been added (most noticeably the Tank theme)
- Intro has been added
- Unplayable map errors have been fixed (if they haven't, please let me know)
- Loads more items
- Ammo spots have been added to most maps. Watch out, these change places on each play-through...
- LOTS of bugfixes

In case anyone's forgotten, EXTRACT THE CONTENT BEFORE PLAYING. If you find the campaign is pink, black, wireframe and full or ERRORs and then come onto the site to complain and rate low, that's not my problem. Extracting the Half-Life 2 content will fix this and you'l need to own Half-Life 2 to get the content.

Also, in relation to future updates, see http://lambda-l4d.webs.com/apps/blog/ I think you'll find it's pretty explanatory.

If anyone's still having problems with anything, feel free to e-mail jonathan[.]poncelet[@]talk21[.]com and I'll help out as best I can.

Lambda aims to bring the experiences from HL2 into L4D. IMPORTANT: Extraction of some HL2 files IS REQUIRED for functionality. READ THE CHANGELOG BEFORE DOWNLOADING! (The stacked files icon on the campaign screenshot) READ IT!

I wish there was a more detailed guide on how to install this mod properly on youtube.

I downloaded this campaign but i cant get it to work properly, i have read the change log and followed the Content Extraction Guide instructions about Installing GCFScape and im stuck at step number 2 : Find and extract the Half-Life: 2 content. it says i need to go to my steamapps folder and look for two files called source materials.gcf and source models.gcf

The problem is when i look in my steamapps folder i dont see ANY FILES the ends with .GCF and i see are files that are called Microsoft Agent Character File and are listed as ACF files, i dont see anything else.

That was an *.msi file. I don't download those.

Pros:

Based on Half Life 2.

Maintains the Half Life look and feel.

Extraction process worked just fine in the past.

Custom music.

No missing models or textures (in the past).

Finale was creative.

Cons:

Might need updated one more time due to changes Valve brought on after Sacrifice.

Although it's 7 maps, still feels a bit short.

Extraction process may be a bit confusing for some.

Just people abusing the rating system because they don't like being different or having fun in L4D.

Conclusion:

Felt like posting a new review again since my last one was lost.
Still not giving up or abandoning this campaign, would probably continue to play it more again if it ever came to L4D2.
I remember loading it up in L4D2 once and it worked just fine.
But due to all the crap Valve changes, it might need some work if brought to L4D2.

Pros:

+Original concept
+Unique finale idea
+New survival content
+Half-Life 2 references

Cons:

-No tank music.
-No preparation time for the finale.
-Finale can be confusing to those who haven't played L4D2.
-Bots don't know how to avoid a moving train.
-Bots don't take weapons and medkits at the starting area.

Conclusion:

While this is an interesting mod, especially for those who have played HL2, numerous bugs make it a less-than-enjoyable experience. Consider downloading for a use or two if you have HL2, but otherwise skip it.

Pros:

Great reconstruction of half life 2 very accurate and is brilliant for left 4 dead.
Although all the campaign maps are short it takes a while to do.
Finale is intense.
Textures when imported look great and has items from half life 2 (not for use obviously.)

Cons:

Installation took a while but I personally didn't find it difficult and felt it was worth it.
Finale wasn't very clear although it didn't take long to figure out it isn't the easily found.
Slippery floor is a bit to slippery more so than I remember in half life 2 you can stand on it and go flying.
Witches are hard to get past since they seem to block the path.

Conclusion:

This campaign is great even though there are a number of Cons in it that can never be helped I enjoyed playing through this and will want to revisit it sometime soon this is perfect for fans of Half Life 2!
